Ceramic components for hip replacement
HiPer Medical AG manufactures ceramic femoral heads and ceramic acetabular liners for hip implants. Our ceramic materials are ELEC® high-purity alumina and ELEC®plus zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA). We supply components for integration into documented hip arthroplasty systems.
A ceramic hip implant is commonly a hip replacement with a ceramic bearing component. The femoral head is the ball; the acetabular liner is the insert on the socket side. A complete hip replacement also includes other system components, such as the femoral stem and acetabular shell.
Femoral head, hip head or hip ball?
These terms describe the ball component of a hip implant. Ceramic femoral head is the technical product term; ceramic hip head and ceramic hip ball are common alternatives. HiPer Medical manufactures ELEC® and ELEC®plus femoral heads. Available diameters and neck lengths depend on the material and product variant.
Ceramic acetabular liners and bearing combinations
A ceramic acetabular liner, also called a ceramic cup insert, forms the socket-side bearing surface. ELEC®plus liners are used with a ceramic head in approved ceramic-on-ceramic combinations. Ceramic-on-polyethylene describes a ceramic head paired with a polyethylene liner. The approved system documentation determines which components may be combined.

Where can manufacturers source ceramic hip implant components?
Implant manufacturers and qualified commercial partners can contact HiPer Medical directly about ceramic femoral heads, acetabular liners and OEM projects. An inquiry should identify the intended system, component, material, size range, target market and expected quantities. Availability and supply are assessed for the specific project.
For patients seeking a hip replacement, implant selection and treatment are arranged through the treating orthopaedic team. This website provides component information and a professional inquiry route.
